Summer Budget Finds {under $50}

Happy first day of summer!

This summer is going to be jam-packed with events and as exhausted we are going to be, I cannot wait to share some incredible memories with friends and family. So to start off my summer I’ve created a list of my summer budget finds under $50 because even as a fru-GAL (see what I did there haha) everyone need a fabulous wardrobe and beauty essesetials for summer fun!

Summer Accessories

Accessories are EVERYTHING for summer. It’s the perfect time to rock fun earrings, colorful big bags, fabulous sandals, and funky sungalsses.

Summer Closet Essentials

I think my summer motto will be “Yoga + Iced Coffee”, so of course a fun tee needed to be included on my list! And I’m loving the deep plunge white swimsuit…can we say HOT?!? I’m super easy for summer as shorts aren’t my thing, so my go-to look is a t-shirt and yoga pants or long flowy dresses.

Summer Makeup Favorites

My summer skincare routine is simple and I try to use the best products for makeup routine. If you have not heard of or used Tarte Cosmetics, they are absolutely amazing. I wear their BB Cream and Clay Finishing Powder every day and it’s the perfect amount of coverage but lightweight and keeps my skin healthy. Their bronzer and self-tanner are perfect to get a fabulous glow without the harmful efffects of the sun. Every product I’ve used from them has exceeded expectations, so I hope you give them a try!

Bright Yellow Dress

Hope everyone had a fabulous Mother’s Day! Willie and Hartley really made my day special and gave me a fabulous gift of renovating my stairs with iron balusters and stain. This was a MUCH bigger job then we thought, because of coarse our luck…the wooden balusters are screwed in from the bottom!?! No one on any of the YouTube videos had this issue, obviously, projects are much easier on a 3 minute video then in reality. I also am now painfully sanding white paint off one of the newels because I ended up hating my first design choice <sigh>. But I am hoping it’s all worth it and can’t wait to share all the photos and detailed explanation of how we transformed our boring oak stairs.

How fun is this BRIGHT yellow dress?!?! I love the scalloped edges details and pockets. It was the perfect dress to wear on Virginia’s first 90 degree day of 2017. I found this dress at the thrift store for $9.99 and paired it with my $6 nude thrifted heels and this fabulous cross body floral cross body purse from Target for $29.99.

I also have super exciting news on the fashion side of my blog! I got accepted into RewardStlye, so it’s given me the motivation and enthusiasm to really highlight incorporating my thrift looks with store brands. You’ll want to download the LIKEtoKNOW.it App to play along! Fashion bloggers, I have a new found respect to all your perfectly styled photoshoots. It’s HARD. I forgot my camera, I was hot and sweaty from standing in the carpool line, the sun was setting and we had about 5 minutes to get some shots after both working and visiting the hospital to meet our cousin’s new baby. Yes they aren’t the best, but I am learning and ready to set out on this new fashion adventure!

Happy Thrift Thursday and summer weather!

Spring is Here!

Happy Thrift Thursday!

Who doesn’t love a spring morning? The crispness of the air, smells of trees and flowers blooming, and the sound of the birds rejoicing that it is finally warm. Last weekend we embraced the spring kick-off with a full revamp of our front porch area. I have wanted a new front door color since we bought the house in July. I went back and forth between doing a bright red, pale yellow or black. I finally settled on black because I thought it was a good neutral that worked well with the white house and black accents we already had. I painted the door with a bristle brush on the first layer, but realized that a foam brush was probably better. The black color shows everything, so trying to go with the grain while defensing a sneaky cat, rambunctious dog, and a curious toddler was a little challenging to say the least, but it turned out good and had no black paint spills (major success). Then it was off to the new wall lanterns. Ohhhhh these lanterns. I took a few years off Willie over these things because it was just one of those weekends were you have to go back-and-forth to the store a 100 times to get anything done. But…how amazing are they?!?! I thought they were going to be a bit large, but they are just fabulous statement pieces. We are going to replace the ones mounted on either side of the garage for extra drama. Then the new front door hardware. Again something that should normally be a quick change, wasn’t. So that remains on our living room floor until Willie’s blood pressure returns to normal.

I finished our front porch revamp by painting the white brick with a clearance $5 gallon of white brick paint which is super easy and made a huge change. I also spray painted the gold house numbers and doorbell to black. Then I used the $11 pots and got a bag of river rock to fill the bottom so they were more sturdy and filled with soil and an assortment of flowers. The same pots in the heavy clay were $45 each, so for half I got two plastic pots to use. For the spring wreath, I just used my grapevine wreath with two long floral stems and added a black and white bow to compliment the new door color. Attempting a 6 loop bow for the first time watching YouTube, was an experience 😉 Finally I weeded and mulched the front beds with Hartley wheelbarrow rides included. It was a loonnngg weekend, but I’m loving the spring overhaul and makes me excited of all the spring events to come!

Anyways…to the dress and shoes. The perfect spring look. A super soft lightweight stretch dress with fabulous heels. This dress was brand new from the thrift store for $7.99 and is Hawthron brand bought through Stitch Fix (I only know this because of the tags). The snakeskin Vince Camuto heels (similar) were brand new condition for $8.99. My amazing Chicos jacket is the same one I wore in this post which was only $5 from the thrift store. Luckily I have a fabulous friend help me snap some of these photos because my self-timer practice was not working. Spring in Washington DC is just stunning!

Happy Spring!

Military Inspired Look

For not being the biggest sports fan, even I could appreciate the excitement and anticipation for the Super Bowl. We had a birthday/Super Bowl party, which was epic! Great food, friends, and some fabulous wagers and bookie skills made the party so engaging for everyone. Oh and what a game?!?! Made overtime history and down to the very last second had everyone on the edge of their seats…what a comeback!

OK ok, enough sports. My fabulous outfit was the biggest touchdown in my mind 🙂 I found these BRAND NEW (with tags) ELLE jean leggings for $6 and this stunning embellished military ZARA jacket for $9 from my fave thrift store. The heels were a clearance of a clearance from $49.99 to $14 at Marshalls. Combining the sleek jeggings, white tank, and adorable fringe heels was a great way to get the military inspired look but in a feminine way…if I do say so myself 🙂

I was so embarrassed trying to snap some photos before the party and trying to beat the sunset, thankfully Willie got a few and we had a super helpful kitty down at the barn! Just hope no one from the party laughed at my horrible modeling skills.

Is everyone ready for Valentine’s Day? If you haven’t entered the giveaway yet, it ENDS TONIGHT! Also, I created 4 Easy {and Insanely Adorable} Valentine’s Day Crafts for Kids for Kalyn with Creative Savings Blog. Hope you check that guest post out and send me any photos if you create the crafts using my tutorials! I would love to see them!

Happy Thrift Thursday!
